Wedding Photography Tips
How to Choose Your Wedding Photographer and Videographer
Use these wedding photography tips to find someone who will create masterpieces of your photos and videos. Your wedding pictures and wedding videos will be memories of the happiness and joy of your wedding day. Take your time in finding someone, but do it early—if you live in a smaller town, these professionals can book up early.
Be sure when you interview a photographer that you see his/her portfolio to determine if her style suits yours. Other things to look for are:
• Do the pictures have good color and clarity?
• Did she pay attention to detail?
• Does she capture the emotions and expressions of the day?
• Is she creative with various poses?
• Does she use soft lenses and lighting?
• Can she do multiple exposures and split framing for interesting pictures?
I recommend meeting your photographer in person and make sure that the person your meet is the one who will be photographing your wedding day. Professionalism is important as well as having wedding photography experience. There won’t be a second chance to get the shots if they are missed!
A good personality is essential too; this person will be sharing your special day with you, your friends and relatives so you should like her as a person.
Read your contract carefully, be sure there are no hidden fees, and ask questions if you don't understand something. Don’t forget to ask if the rights for using digital negatives for your personal use are in the contract. Some do not include rights to digital images. If you want to share your pictures with friends online you may need to purchase digital images separately.
You may already have a photographer and a videographer in mind from seeing photos and videos of your friends’ weddings. That’s great. You are ahead of the game. Now just interview them and sign the contract to book them for your wedding day. If you don’t have any idea who you want as a photographer or a videographer, make a list from the phone book, go to their stores and see their work. Decide who you want to hire by interviewing them and sign the contract to book them for your wedding day.
