Bridal Hair Styles

Hair Type

Hair type and texture should be taken into consideration when choosing bridal hair styles. If you were born with thick, curly hair, you probably shouldn't opt for a stick straight hairstyle as it would be difficult to get your hair to cooperate. Plus, your hair may not hold up for all the activities you'll be taking part in during the day. Likewise, unless you plan on getting a perm, don't try to force your straight hair to be super curly just for your big day. When you get out into the heat and humidity, those carefully coiffed curls are probably going to become limp and lackluster.

If you have long hair and are comfortable wearing it up, it can look stunning pulled back into a simple chignon. Add some beautiful bridal hair accessories or flowers and you're sure to look the part of the elegant bride. If wearing your hair up has never been a practice for you, wear your long hair down with a few, simple loose curls. Be sure to take into consideration the dress you'll be wearing. If you're wearing a high necked dress, a classic updo will give you a very nice look. If you're wearing a lower cut or strapless dress, long hair may soften the look a bit. Hairstyles

Select your hair style early.

• Look on the Internet for pictures of bridal hair styles.

• Visit your hair salon and look through their hair style books or check out books from the library that have pictures and ‘how to’ information about the hairstyle.

• To see what a particular hair style will look like on you, view all the Bridal hairstyles at TheHairStyler.com! Upload a picture of yourself and look at hundreds of ways you can do your hair for your wedding. You can also change the color of your hair. Seeing how you will actually look is a great way to choose a style.

• Bridal hair styles should be practical. You're going to be active for hours, dancing and conversing with your guests; you want a style that will hold up to all of the activity. This is supposed to be a day of celebration! Don't let your hair be a distraction.

Compliment Your Wedding Dress

The style of your wedding dress is your guide to how you should style your hair.

• Bridal updos compliment a dress with a halter neckline or a plunging back.

• If there are pearls decorating the wedding dress then add bridal hair accessories with pearls to compliment the dress.

Bridal Hairstyles and Wedding Veils

Wedding veil styles should compliment bridal hairstyles.

• Your veil and your bridal hairstyle need to work with each other.

• Show your hair stylist the veil, headpiece or other bridal hair accessories you plan to wear so the stylist can create a look that works with it.

• Do a trial run with several of the hairdos you like to be able to choose the perfect one for your wedding day.

Your Bridal Hairstyle

Do not wear a hairstyle that is uncomfortable and is not you.

• You know yourself so do not try look like someone else. You want to be the very best version of YOU.

• Think about all the ways you have worn your hair in the past and go with the way you liked it best.

• Do not attempt a style that is not you just because it’s your wedding.

Bridal Hair Styles vs the Weather

The time of year for the wedding is a contributing factor on how your hair will make it through the day.

• During your wedding day you will be in many different locations and your hair must be able to withstand the weather.

• Summer weddings can be humid and/or rainy. If you want a straight style and your hair is naturally curly these weather conditions will have an adverse affect on how your hairstyle will withstand throughout the day.

• Winter, depending on where you are, brings fog, snow, and dry weather conditions.

• March is known for its wind so bridal hairstyles must be flexible enough to let the wind blow and still look good.

Bridal Hair Styles and Your Hair

If you find a style that you really like but do not have the right length hair there are options.

• Start growing your hair out early.

• Consider using clip-on hair extensions to add length to your hair.

• Talk to your hair stylist to find out how to achieve the style you have chosen.

The Right Hair Stylist

Make sure that a hair stylist you are comfortable with is available on your wedding day or be able to style your hair yourself.

• If getting married close to home, book your appointment early to ensure your stylist is available.

• If you have planned a destination wedding you may have to style your own hair for the wedding so choose a style that you can manage yourself.

• See if your stylist will come to your location or find a stylist in that location and have a few appointments with them before your wedding so you are both comfortable with each other.

Countdown to the Wedding Day

It is best to schedule the final haircut, color, perm, and etc. one to two weeks before the wedding day. If there needs to be any touch ups there is still time. This will help eliminate stress.

Here's in hopes you'll select the perfect bridal hair style and have a joyous and beautiful wedding!
